¿Hasta dónde llega la memoria humana?

Mi problema por excelencia (además de la falta de sentido común) es la mala memoria. Olvidarme de nombres de calles y olvidar las palabras que tengo que decir son síntomas claros de Alzheimer, y complicaciones que me acontecen a diario. ¿Hasta qué punto podemos almacenar recuerdos? Mi caso es particularmente patético, pero ampliando la cuestión hasta los seres humanos en general podemos encontrar alguna respuesta (muy) parcial.

El elemento clave aquí es la neurona. Los seres humanos contamos con más o menos mil millones de neuronas en nuestro cerebro. Cada neurona presente en él forma unas 1.000 conexiones con otras neuronas, alcanzando a gran escala unos tres mil millones de conexiones neuronales en total. ¿Por qué importa esto? Pues si cada neurona pudiera almacenar un recuerdo, esto implicaría que tendríamos no más de tres mil millones de recuerdos. Por más que 3.000.000.000 sea un número grande, no es tanto hablando de recuerdos.

La buena noticia es que en realidad las neuronas del cerebro humano se combinan entre sí, haciendo posible que una neurona cuente con más de un recuerdo que recordar, expandiendo la capacidad del recuerdo a algo así como2.5 petabytes (un millón de gigabytes), o algo así como tres millones de horas de programas de TV.

Sin embargo, la capacidad exacta del cerebro para recordar cosas no está bien definida por tres razones razones. La primera es que no conocemos cómo medir el tamaño de una memoria. En segundo lugar algunas memorias contienen más detalles que otras, y por ello demandan más espacio. Finalmente, alguna información es complementaria y no está claro qué lugar ocupa en la jerarquía de recuerdos.

Una cuestión es segura: nuestro cerebro nunca se llena. Nuestro lapso de vida no alcanza para colmar nuestracapacidad de memoria, y por ello alguien con buena memoria puede darse el lujo de seguir recordando detalles mínimos a sus noventa años. Otros, desgraciados como yo, padecemos en juventud una especie de Alzheimer inherente a nuestra memoria que nos impide recordar ni siquiera la fecha de hoy.

The book itself is flawed not except that the only point thatwould be missing would be a 10/10 for inclusion on the specific issue of mathematics-oriented techniques that allowed to approach its study with ease. Then allow one ofthe themes that best choke to all students in mathematics is usually almost every branch of science discipline or mixed.

Final summary, for my taste and in fairness the book itself I would recommend to all audiences and ages as the head inself-education, it is a new approach to learning andteaching something that is not taught in school, ironically,Learning learn, which is essential today.
